7 Days: Volunteer at Lao Elephant Home

Day 1: Arrival and Orientation

  • Pick up from Paklay : Arrival at Lao Elephant Home and Sanctuary.

  • Afternoon: Orientation session including a tour of the sanctuary, introduction to the team, and overview of volunteer duties and safety protocols.

  • Evening: Welcome dinner with other volunteers and staff. Introduction to the sanctuary's mission and values.

Day 2: Elephant Care and Habitat Maintenance

  • Morning: Assist with feeding the elephants, including preparing and distributing food. Learn about the dietary needs and health of the elephants.

  • Afternoon: Help with habitat maintenance—cleaning the elephants’ living areas, checking for hazards, and ensuring a clean environment.

  • Evening: Reflective discussion or educational session on elephant behavior and conservation efforts.

Day 3: Enrichment Activities

  • Morning: Participate in creating and setting up enrichment activities for the elephants. This may include making toys or puzzles to stimulate their mental and physical health.

  • Afternoon: Observe and assist with training sessions. Learn about positive reinforcement techniques used with the elephants.

  • Evening: Free time to relax or explore the local area. Optional group activity or cultural experience.

Day 4: Community and Conservation Work

  • Morning: Engage in community outreach programs. This might include local school visits, awareness workshops, or collaborating with nearby villages on conservation efforts.

  • Afternoon: Continue with community projects or assist with ongoing research related to elephant conservation.
